Residents and business owners in the Lameco area of Osogbo, capital of Osun State have expressed frustration over the prolonged construction of the Lameco bridge, which has now entered its third year, causing hardship for commuters, traders and residents.
The bridge project, which was expected to improve traffic flow and boost economic activities in the area, has instead created access problems for businesses and made movement difficult for residents.
Business owners in the area say the prolonged construction and blocked access roads have drastically reduced customer patronage, leading to heavy financial losses. Some traders claim they have been forced to shut down their shops due to the situation.
One business owner lamented that the situation has severely affected their livelihood.
“Our business has collapsed as access have been blocked for too long,” the business owner said.

Residents also complained about dust, traffic congestion, poor road access and the slow pace of construction work. According to them, the project has taken longer than expected and continues to disrupt daily activities.
Motorists and commuters who use the road also expressed concern over the delays, noting that the construction has caused frequent traffic gridlock and increased transportation costs in the area.
Residents are now calling on the government and contractors handling the project to speed up construction work and provide alternative access routes to ease movement and reduce the hardship being faced by the community.
