Woman Raises Alarm After Narrow Escape From Suspected ‘One Chance’ Bike Ride in Ibadan

A young woman has warned residents of Ibadan to be cautious while commuting after she narrowly escaped what she believes was a dangerous motorcycle ride on Wednesday evening.

In an emotional account shared online, the visibly shaken woman said she decided to take a commercial motorcycle, popularly known as an okada, while returning home after stepping out to buy something.

According to her, the ride initially seemed normal, but she soon began to feel uneasy when the rider started heading in a direction she did not recognize.

She explained that the unfamiliar route immediately raised suspicion, prompting her to question the rider. As the motorcycle continued moving away from what she believed was the proper route, panic set in and she began shouting for help.

The woman said she repeatedly screamed and tapped the rider from behind, demanding that he stop the motorcycle.

Her loud cries reportedly drew attention from people nearby, forcing the rider to stop. She then quickly got down from the bike.

The woman described the experience as one of the most frightening moments of her life, saying she was still visibly nervous and shaken while recounting the incident.

“I have never experienced something like this in my life,” she said, urging others to remain alert when using commercial motorcycles.

She advised commuters, particularly those living in Ibadan, to be extremely careful when boarding bikes and to always pay attention to the routes riders take.

Her warning comes amid growing concerns about safety risks associated with commercial transport, including the activities of criminals who pose as transport operators to rob or abduct unsuspecting passengers.
