BREAKING: LASU Appoints New Vice-Chancellor

 

Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello has emerged as the new Vice-Chancellor of the Lagos State University (LASU).

 

The don is the wife of ex-Secretary to the State Government and current Commissioner for Environment, Tunji Bello.

 

 

Ibiyemi becomes the ninth LASU VC after months of an intriguing selection process.

 

 

In May, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu cancelled the exercise and fired the institution’s council for not following extant rules.

 

 

Until now, Ibiyemi, a Professor of Medicine, was LASU acting VC.

 

 

Born April 23, 1964, she attended Anglican Girl Grammar School, Surulere, 1974-1979; Methodist Girls High School, Yaba; Lagos College of Science and Technology.

She also schooled at the University of lbadan, 1982-85; University of Lagos, 1987 and University of Texas, Health Science Centre, San Antonio, USA, 1994-1998.

 

Ibiyemi was an Assistant Lecturer, College of Medicine, University of Lagos, Idi-Araba; Lecturer, 1988; Lecturer 11, 1991; Lecturer 1, 1996; Senior Lecturer 1999.

 

 

The new VC became an Associate Professor in 2005; Professor of Physiology, LASU College of Medicine, 2007, and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, LASU since 2008.
