Nigerian First Lady to empower over 10,000 Women

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is set to lead a major women’s mobilisation and empowerment programme in Abuja on Monday, with more than 20,000 women expected to attend the event.

The programme, tagged the Women Stakeholders’ Mobilisation and Empowerment Pre-Inaugural Roll-Out, is being organised under the Women Mobilisation Directorate of the 2027 APC Presidential Campaign Council. It will hold from 8am at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja.

The gathering is expected to bring together women leaders, political stakeholders, community representatives and grassroots mobilisers from across the country as part of preparations for the 2027 general elections.

Themed, “Renewed Hope Agenda 2.0: From Reforms to Prosperity,” the event is designed to provide a platform for women to discuss political participation, grassroots mobilisation and empowerment while assessing the impact of ongoing government reforms.

The initiative, convened by the First Lady, is anchored on the Tinubu-Shettima 2027 campaign platform and will adopt the slogan, “One Voice, One Movement, One Choice, One Mandate 2027.”

A member of the planning committee, Hon. Princess Gloria Akobundu, said the programme would provide an avenue for women from different parts of the country to interact, coordinate their activities and take a more active role in the political process.

Akobundu stressed that women remained important stakeholders in Nigeria’s development and democratic process, adding that the initiative would strengthen collaboration between women leaders and grassroots structures.

She said the organisers were also focused on ensuring that the benefits of ongoing reforms translated into improved opportunities and prosperity for women, while encouraging them to become more organised and active ahead of the 2027 elections.

The programme is expected to feature discussions on women’s empowerment, political mobilisation, grassroots engagement and strategies for building a coordinated nationwide women’s network.

The organisers described the planned gathering as a major platform for mobilising and equipping women to participate more effectively in the political process, with expectations already building ahead of the Abuja event.
