News Update
Political tension is brewing in Idanre Local Government Area of Ondo State following allegations that the All Progressives Congress, APC, House of Representatives candidate for the Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency has been tearing down campaign banners bearing the image of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Multiple residents and party supporters alleged that the candidate’s supporters were seen removing and destroying Tinubu-branded banners and posters across major streets in Idanre town over the weekend. The incident has since sparked anger and condemnation among loyalists of the President in the area.
The development comes amid intensified political activities and early positioning ahead of the 2027 general elections, with parties already mobilizing structures at the grassroots.
Residents React
Some residents who spoke to our correspondent described the alleged act as “provocative” and “disrespectful” to the office of the President.
“This is not done. You cannot be flying the APC flag and at the same time be tearing down the President’s banners. It sends the wrong signal,” a party chieftain in Idanre who pleaded anonymity said.
Another resident noted that the banners were part of materials put up by Tinubu support groups to show solidarity with the President’s administration.
