Osun 2026: Oyebamiji Thanks Supporters, Flags Attacks On APC Members, Urges Peace

All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate in the just-concluded Osun State election, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, has thanked party members for their support while urging calm and calling on security agencies to address reported attacks on APC supporters.

In a statement released on Sunday, August 17, 2026, AMBO said although the outcome of the election was not what the party hoped for, the APC respects the position of the electoral umpire and supports the party’s ongoing review of the results.

What AMBO said to APC members

AMBO commended APC supporters, leaders, and volunteers across Osun for their “steadfastness, commitment, sacrifice, and tireless efforts” during the campaign.

He expressed gratitude to voters who trusted the party’s “prosperity agenda” and “alternative vision” for Osun. He noted that while the campaign has ended, the values the party championed remain alive and the party will continue to work for “effective, inclusive and rapid development” of the state.

He urged members to “keep working for our community, to stay engaged, to continue to organize and to remain vigilant for the collective good of our state.”

Call for peace and security alert

AMBO appealed to APC members to remain “calm and peaceful” in the post-election period.

However, he raised concerns over what he described as a “growing trend of hostility and violence against our members and supporters.” He said violent attacks witnessed before the election “has taken another dimension in the last 24 hours.”

Consequently, he urged the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to “intervene and arrest this ugly trend without delay.”

What next for AMBO and APC in Osun

AMBO reiterated his pride in the campaign and appreciation for the confidence reposed in him. He closed with prayers for supporters, Osun State, and Nigeria.

The APC in Osun is currently reviewing the election outcome, according to the statement.
