..as Redemption City Records 88 New Babies at 74th Annual Convention
THE Redeemed Christian Church of God has ordained 20,627 new ministers at the close of its 74th Annual Convention held at Redemption City, Mowe, Ogun State.
According to the church’s Holy Ghost Service Instagram page, 2,820 candidates were ordained as full pastors — the highest pastoral rank in RCCG. The church noted that even General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, holds the same office.
Also ordained during the week-long programme were 5,977 assistant pastors and 11,830 deacons and deaconesses.
The church announced on Tuesday, Day 2 of the convention, that:
“A total of 11,830 Deacons & Deaconesses and 5,977 Assistant Pastors were ordained during the 74th Annual Convention of R.C.C.G.”
And on Sunday, it added:
“2,820 candidates were ordained to the office of Full Pastors. In R.C.C.G., the office of the Full Pastor is the highest office; even the General Overseer is a full pastor.”
Convention Highlights
The 2026 convention, themed “Mountain Movers,” ran from Monday, August 3 to Sunday, August 9, 2026 at Redemption City along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The week featured daily worship sessions, Bible studies, prayer meetings, seminars, and specialised sessions for different church groups.
Major events included the Holy Ghost Service on Friday, Holy Communion and Anointing Service on Saturday, baptism, ordination services, and a thanksgiving service on Sunday.
Pastor E.A. Adeboye led several sessions alongside other senior ministers and his wife, Pastor Folu Adeboye. Worshippers from Nigeria and across the world attended the gathering.
In his closing remarks, Adeboye announced that 88 babies were born at Redemption City during the convention — 52 boys and 36 girls.
The ordination of pastors, deacons, deaconesses and assistant pastors was one of the major highlights of the convention, which ended with prayers and thanksgiving on Sunday.
