THE Osun State Police Command has arrested three suspected assassins in the recent attempt to kill the Campaign Director General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Wole Oke.
During the suspects’ parade on Thursday, at the State Police Headquarters in Osogbo, the Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command, CP Ibrahim Gotan, said he was briefing the press in order to keep members of the public adequately informed and updated about the command’s sustained operational efforts aimed at tackling cultism, political thuggery and other violent crimes in the state.
He said through proactive and intelligence-led operations, the command successfully arrested the suspects.
According to him, investigations are ongoing, and all those found culpable will be made to face the full weight of the law.
The arrested suspects are Olamilekan Oriyomi, 24; Ayotunde Ikupolati Ojo, 44, and Fakinleye Femi, aged 31.
“On Tuesday, 30th June 2026, Hon. Oluwole Oke and other party members paid homage to Ajalaye of Ipetu-jesa, Oba (Dr) Agunbiade Oke at his palace and later proceeded to the Town Hall in Ipetu-Ijesa to engage with his political party members.
“Shortly after the meeting, a group of individuals suspected to be members of political thugs/Eiye Confraternity, allegedly led by one Olalekean Oriyomi obstructed the exit route of the visiting entourage and brought out an English Beretta pistol loaded with four live ammunition, about to point it at Oke but was promptly spotted and subdued by the DPO.
“Police officers deployed to maintain security at the venue responded promptly and succeeded in apprehending the suspect Olamilekan Oriyomi and recovered the firearm and ammunitions while other suspects fled the scene.
“Following intensified intelligence-led operations and sustained efforts by the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) of the command, two additional suspects identified as Ayotunde Ikupolati Ojo ‘m’ aged 44 yrs and Fakinleye Femi ‘m’ aged 31 yrs were arrested on 1st July 2026 at Ipetu-Ijesa.
“Olalekean Oriyomi confessed that, he got the gun from Busuyi Akinwole Ikupolati a.k.a ‘Omo-Akin’ who is at large, and he has made statement implicating some influential figure who are under the command searchlight. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects,” the police boss narrated.
The Command assured all law-abiding residents of Osun that their safety and security remained the priority and urged residents to remain calm, law-abiding, and continue to provide credible and actionable information to the security agencies in the state.
