Osun Accord to Police: We Won’t Meet You Until You Arrest Our Killers

Osun state chapter of the Accord has rejected the invitation by the state police commissioner, Ibrahim Gothan on the ground that the command under him is complicit in the killings and shootings of Accord members.

The Osun State Police Command had invited the state’s Accord executive members to a meeting today to review developments in the state. The invitation was sent late last night without details of the agenda.

Responding to the invitation, the Accord executive members said the invitation from the police is coming at a time the police command had refused to address several criminal assaults on Accord members, calling the proposed meeting “an attempt for photo opportunity on the pains and injuries of Accord members.

Our members suffered repeatedly out of negligence, criminal collusion and unwillingness for law enforcement of the police command. We lost our youth leader at Ikire. Up till now, no single arrest has been made.

Our billboards were openly destroyed by APC thugs. The police command is yet to make any arrest. The Osun APC in braid daylight attacked several Accord members, shooting sporadically across the state capital and Ede. Seven people, mostly Accord sympathisers, were seriously injured.

On a daily basis, APC thugs parade Osun towns with arms and firing sporadically to scare residents. It is alarming that despite knowing these thugs and their abode, the police fail to arrest or stop their nefarious activities.

Just yesterday, a 14 year old Accord sympathiser was killed in the presence of policemen by APC thugs. As at the time of issuing this statement, no arrest has been made by the police.

We therefore find it difficult to honour invitations from the police commissioner until he does the needful. We charge him to act professionally and enforce fair policing.

Signed:
Pastor Victor Akande,
State Chairman,
Osun State Accord.
June 22nd, 2026.
