Lady commits suicide over failed relationship

THE Police Command in Anambra State, has launched an investigation into the suspected suicide of a 25-year-old female student in Onitsha.

The student’s body was discovered on June 18, 2026. Investigators recovered a suspected suicide note at the scene. The letter detailed a distressing relationship breakup with an unidentified man named Chigozie, following three ab0rtions.

Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, expressed deep concern over the incident. While confirming ongoing investigations to determine the exact cause of d€ath, CP Orutugu stressed that the tragedy highlights a critical need for stronger parental guidance, moral upbringing, and robust emotional support systems for young adults.

The Commissioner urged parents and guardians to play more active roles in the lives of their children. He emphasized the importance of monitoring their emotional well-being, social circles, and behavioral shifts.

CP Orutugu also called on community leaders, schools, religious bodies, and civil society groups to scale up mentorship and advocacy programs. He noted that these initiatives are vital for teaching positive values, resilience, and responsible living to youths.

The police boss has ordered the immediate transfer of the Case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka, for a thorough and discreet investigation.
