Ekiti agog as Tinubu commissions Ado-Ekiti flyover, lauds Oyebanji’s scorecards

Ekiti State was agog on Tuesday as President Bola Tinubu commissioned the 1.2km Okeyinmi-Ajilosun flyover in Ado-Ekiti named after him as part of the landmark infrastructural achievements of Ekiti State governor, Biodun Oyebanji.

Tinubu, represented by Vice-President, Kashim Shettima commissioned the project as part of the activities marking his one-day working visit to the state.

The President noted that the completion of the project within a record time is another testament of his administration’s commitment to transparency in ensuring that states receive their allocations as at when due.

The President commended Governor Oyebanji for transforming Ekiti into a modern state stressing that the construction of the project by a local company is another promise kept to the people of the state.

His words: “It is another promise kept. This project is a testimony to the promise made by the governor. It was constructed by a local company using local content.

“I want to commend the President because this project was completely funded with state resources which is a reflection of the commitment made by the President to ensure that states get what they deserve to get on a monthly basis.

“I was a governor for 8 years. What happened to my state in 8 years, some states have gotten it in one year. States are able to execute landmark projects without borrowing a dime from financial institutions. We have to show gratitude and openly commend the President for his transparency in ensuring that states get what they are due to get.

“BAO has done his best, BAO has transformed an agrarian rural state into a modern state. We shall identify with Ekiti, and the President identifies with Ekiti.”

Meanwhile, the Vice President promised to mobilise the Northern community in Ekiti State for the governor’s re-election while urging Ekiti voters to reciprocate his landmark achievements in the June 20 poll.

“Ekiti is a land of promise, Ekiti is a land of equity, and Ekiti is the most educated state in the Nigerian federation. I believe you will reciprocate the landmark accomplishments of Governor BAO in the next couple weeks.

“I will be back in Ekiti on Tuesday and I will spend the night in Ekiti. I will go round the Northern community in Ekiti to mobilise votes for BAO because BAO deserves to be re-elected.”

Governor Oyebanji expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for his support in ensuring the completion of the project noting that its execution by a local company reflects the state’s local content policy.

The governor noted that the flyover was named after President Tinubu in appreciation for his support to Ekiti people and pledged that the state will continue to support and stand by the All Progressives Congress.

In his remark, Commissioner for Works, Adesola Adebayo said that the federal government has demonstrated to Ekiti progress adding that the administration of Governor Oyebanji is complementing the efforts with strategic state-funded projects.

According to him, “the Federal Government has also demonstrated commitment to Ekiti’s development through major road projects such as the Akure-Ikere-Ado Ekiti Road, while the Oyebanji administration continues to complement these efforts with strategic state-funded projects, including the Ado-Iworoko-Ifaki Road. This productive partnership between the Federal and State Governments is yielding tangible benefits for our people.

“The impressive landscape and aesthetics of this flyover corridor reflect excellence, innovation, and quality workmanship. We remain deeply grateful to Governor Oyebanji, whose visionary leadership and commitment to sustainable development continue to inspire us at the Ministry of Works and across the state.

“As we commission this important facility today, I urge all road users and residents to make proper use of it and help protect it. Public infrastructure belongs to all of us and must be preserved for the benefit of present and future generations.

“This flyover bridge stands as a lasting legacy of purposeful governance and a testament to our commitment to improving lives, promoting prosperity, and advancing the development of Ekiti State.”
