Osun Amotekun Dismisses Claim of 50 Operatives Guarding Adeleke Brother’s Ondo Plant

THE Osun Amotekun Corps has dismissed allegations by the All Progressives Congress Governorship Campaign Council that it deployed 50 operatives to guard a power plant owned by Governor Ademola Adeleke’s elder brother, Dr. Deji Adeleke, in Ondo State.

The Amotekun Corps, in a statement by its spokesperson, Yusuf Idowu, described the APC claim as “entirely false, baseless, misleading, and incapable of withstanding any objective scrutiny.”

The security outfit said there is no truth whatsoever in the claims being circulated, adding that the allegations are merely a deliberate attempt to drag the Corps into unnecessary political controversy.

The rebuttal comes hours after the APC Campaign Council, in a statement by its Director General, Hon. Wole Oke, alleged that 50 Amotekun operatives, led by Commander Aseye Matthew Olusola and Kazeem Raji alias “Emin Esu”, were stationed at Pacific Energy Company in Omotosho, Ondo State.

APC also claimed one operative, Mr Abdullahi Adedeji, died after a motorcycle accident while travelling to the facility.

However, the Osun Amotekun in the statement said the officers whose names were mentioned in connection with the allegation are currently carrying out their lawful duties within the Corps’ Headquarters in Osogbo and other designated locations in Osun State.

“At no time were such operatives deployed to Ondo State for any assignment related to the power plant as alleged,” the Corps stated.

On the death allegation, Amotekun said: “The Corps further clarifies that all its personnel remained on operational standby and active duty within Osun State during the period in question. The claim that 50 operatives were mobilised outside the state is completely fabricated and unsupported by facts.

“Similarly, Osun Amotekun dismisses as false and fictitious the allegation that one of its officers was involved in a motorcycle accident while allegedly travelling to Ondo State for the purported assignment. The Corps confirms that no such incident occurred,” it added.

The Corps insisted it remains apolitical and committed to its statutory duty.

“Osun Amotekun wishes to state unequivocally that it is a security institution established by law for the protection of lives and property across Osun State. As a professional and community-based security outfit, the Corps remains apolitical and does not engage in partisan political activities or serve the interests of any political party, individual, private organisation, or business entity,” the statement said.
