NUEE President Greets Nigerians on Eid-el-Adha, Children’s Day, Calls for Action on Children’s Welfare

THE National President of the Nigeria Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE), Engr. Biyi Adeyeye, has extended warm greetings to Muslim faithful across the country on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Adha celebration. He also used the opportunity to celebrate Nigerian children as the nation marks the 2026 Children’s Day.

In a statement personally signed by him, Engr. Adeyeye commended electricity workers nationwide for their sacrifices, dedication, and perseverance in ensuring that the nation’s power sector remains functional despite numerous challenges confronting the industry.

According to him, the commitment and resilience displayed by workers in the sector deserve commendation, as they continue to render essential services to Nigerians under difficult conditions.

The NUEE President noted that Eid-el-Adha symbolizes sacrifice, love, obedience, and compassion, urging Nigerians to imbibe the virtues of peaceful coexistence, tolerance, and support for one another.

Speaking on Children’s Day, Engr. Adeyeye said the celebration should not only be a moment of joy and merriment for children but also a period of reflection for leaders and governments at all levels to recommit themselves to the welfare, protection, and future of Nigerian children.

He lamented the plight of innocent children who are victims of insecurity, kidnapping, violence, and poor governance, stressing that many minors across the country have been denied quality education, healthcare, security, and a conducive environment to thrive.

The labour leader particularly expressed heartfelt sympathy for innocent children currently in the hands of kidnappers and those displaced by insecurity in different parts of the country, praying for their safe return and restoration of hope to affected families.

Engr. Adeyeye further called on the government to prioritize policies that would guarantee a better future for children, improve workers’ welfare, and strengthen national unity.

He wished Muslim faithful a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Adha celebration while urging Nigerians not to lose hope in the nation despite prevailing socio-economic challenges.
