70-year-Old arrested for Alleged Rape of 10-year-old

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 70-year-old man for allegedly raping a 10-year-old girl in Magama Gumau, Local Government Area of the state.
 

The spokesperson for the command, SP Nafiu Habib, who disclosed this in a statement on Saturday said the incident was reported on 15th May 2026 by the father of the victim.
 

According to Habib, the father reported that the suspect, Hamza Yahaya, lured his daughter to a hideout within the area and had unlawful sexual intercourse with her. 
 

During interrogation, the suspect voluntarily confessed to having sexually assaulted the victim on three previous occasions at the same location.

“Operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command have arrested a 70-year-old man for the alleged rape of a 10-year-old minor in Magama Gumau, Toro LGA,” the statement read.
 

“The incident was reported on 15th May 2026 at about 2130hrs by the 40-year-old father of the victim, a resident of Magama Gumau. He reported alongside his 10-year-old biological daughter that earlier the same day at about 1600hrs, one Hamza Yahaya, 70 years old, of the same address, lured the minor to his hideout within the area and had unlawful sexual intercourse with her.
 

“Upon receipt of the complaint, detectives attached to Toro Division immediately mobilized to the scene and arrested the suspect. 
 

“During interrogation, the suspect denied the recent allegation but voluntarily confessed to having s3xually assaulted the victim on three previous occasions at the same location.

“Both the victim and the suspect were taken to the General Hospital, Toro, for medical examination and treatment. 
 

“The suspect has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Bauchi, for further investigation and prosecution.
 

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, mni, psc (+), condemned the heinous act and reiterated the Command’s zero-tolerance stance on crimes against children.
