Osun APC distances Oyebamiji from Aregbesola’s half-salary payment

THE All Progressives Congress Governorship Campaign Council in Osun has clarified that its candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, was not responsible for the payment of half salaries to workers under the Rauf Aregbesola administration.

This was noted in a statement by the campaign council on Monday. It said Mr Oyebamiji was appointed finance commissioner in May 2017, while the half-salary payment began in 2015.

Mr Oyebamiji also served in the same capacity under the Oyetola administration for four years.

He, however, noted that within a few months of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola’s assumption of office, the half-salary regime was
discontinued and full payment restored.

The modulated salary scheme was introduced by Mr Aregbesola in June 2015.

The statement assured Osun electorates that Mr Oyebamiji, if elected, would be prudent in managing public resources and ensure improved welfare for workers.

It said the APC candidate planned to reintroduce the car loan scheme for civil servants and revive the food support programme.
