Six LAUTECH students killed in auto crash while going for final exam

News Update

Nurses forum of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) has condoled families of six final-year nursing students of the university who reportedly died in a road crash on Sunday.

In a statement on Monday, Olabisi James, secretary of the forum, said the vehicles conveying the students crashed on the Suleja-Abuja expressway while heading to school for their semester examinations.

“They were expected to resume face-to-face facilitation today, Monday, February 23, 2026. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, and loved ones of the victims,” James stated.

“We mourn this devastating loss and pray for the souls of the departed to rest in eternal peace. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire LAUTECH community and all those affected by this tragedy.”

He said the forum acknowledges the pain and grief of the families and friends of the victims and stands in solidarity with them during this difficult time.

According to him, the forum also commended the efforts of emergency responders and medical personnel who attended to the incident.

It urged all road users to exercise caution and prioritise safety while travelling.

“May the bereaved families find strength and comfort in this difficult time. May the memories of the departed inspire us to cherish life and pursue our goals with greater purpose,” the statement added.

As of the time of filing this report, the university is yet to issue any official statement on the incident.

However, the incident has generated several reactions on social media with the nursing in Nigeria blog displaying pictures of the deceased students via Facebook on Monday.
