News Update
A passenger on a United Airlines flight from Nigeria to Washington D.C. died after fainting during the journey, forcing the plane to return to Nigeria.
The flight had originally diverted to Dakar, Senegal, earlier when another passenger gave birth to twins mid-air.
During the return trip, the man, believed to be in his 60s, lost consciousness.
Cabin crew and fellow travelers attempted to revive him using multiple oxygen masks, but the efforts were unsuccessful.
The fourth mask offered partial relief, but he passed away around 10:29 a.m., just before the flight’s scheduled landing at 11:07 a.m.
Passengers said he may have had underlying health conditions that worsened under the stress of the flight.
After he collapsed, the crew moved him to the front of the plane and covered him with blankets.
Some travelers expressed concern over the failure of the oxygen system and the limited medical support available onboard.
The flight proceeded as scheduled, and authorities are expected to investigate the incident further.
