Yahoo boy kills childhood friend over deal

THE police have arrested a suspected internet fraudster (yahoo boy), identified simply as Ogheneghare (28), for the alleged killing of his childhood friend and business partner, 25-year-old Courage, in Delta State.

According to the police in the state, the suspect allegedly used a small shovel to inflict fatal injuries on the deceased following a dispute over $1,000 in proceeds from an internet fraud scheme.

The command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, said the suspect allegedly murdered his friend and roommate during a conflict over the money.

According to Edafe, the suspect and the deceased were friends who engaged in “internet business” together but fell into a violent disagreement over the sharing of the profits.

“The suspect confronted the deceased; they had a fight, and he used an object like a small shovel or a battle axe to hit him on the head three times, leading to his death,” Edafe said.

He added that the suspect threw the weapon away while attempting to flee and evade arrest.

In a video interview with the command’s spokesperson, the suspect claimed that the deceased intended to stab him when he was confronted about the money.

He admitted to using a small shovel to strike the deceased on the head three times.

“He is my childhood friend. We were doing internet fraud together, but when it was time for a client to pay us $1,000, he logged me out, and I no longer had access to the account,” the suspect claimed.

He added, “He brought the business, and we were working on it together, but when the money was due, he removed me from the WhatsApp group we were using.”

The suspect, who also confessed to being a member of the Aye Confraternity, said that following the disagreement, he armed himself with a small shovel and went to the deceased’s residence to confront him.

He alleged that during the ensuing fight, the deceased tried to stab him, prompting him to strike the victim three times.

“He was rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead,” the suspect added.
