Prominent Yoruba nation agitator, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, a.k.a. Igboho, on Monday broke down in tears while recounting his ordeal in prison custody in Cotonou, Republic of Benin.
Igboho, during a thank-you visit to the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, at his Bodija residence, said he was treated like a hardened criminal prior to the intervention of Oba Ladoja and other well-meaning Yoruba leaders at home and in the diaspora.
He said: “I shared room with hardened criminals in Cotonou prison, but Oba Ladoja gave me hope. His fatherly intervention saved the situation as I was relocated from the terrible place that I was initially in to a conducive place.
“My encounter with Oba Ladoja has changed my perception about life. I wouldn’t have regained my freedom if not for his intervention.

“He (Oba Ladoja) called me on Friday that he had met with President Bola Tinubu over my matter. He said the matter had been resolved and that I was free to come to Nigeria.
“I thank President Bola Tinubu for granting my freedom as requested by my father, Oba Ladoja, and other well-meaning Yoruba leaders.
“I had been in exile for no just cause. I neither killed nor did anything that contravened any known law of the land.
“However, President Tinubu, in his wisdom, decided to set me free. I am grateful to him. Also, I am enjoining all the Yorubas, both at home and abroad, to help me thank him for his magnanimity.
