THE naira has extended gains on Friday to end the week on a good note against the United States dollar at the official foreign exchange market.
The Central Bank of Nigeria’s data showed that the Naira further strengthened to N1,417.95 per dollar on Friday, up from N1,419.28 recorded on Thursday.
This means that the Naira gains N1.33 against the dollar on a day-to-day basis at the official FX market.
Meanwhile, at the black market, the Naira remained stable at N1490 per dollar on Friday, the same rate recorded for the major part of the week, according to a Bureau De Change operator, Hassan Abubakar.
Media reports that on a week-on-week basis the Naira gained N5.22 against the dollar when compared with N1,423.1674 exchanged last Friday.

The development comes as the country’s foreign reserves rose to $45.86 billion as of January 15th, 2026.
