News Update
THE Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited has again reduced the pump price of petrol at its retail filling stations.
On Monday morning, January 5, observations made in Abuja showed that outlets belonging to the company are now selling Premium Motor Spirit at ₦815 per litre, compared to the earlier price of ₦835 per litre.
This latest review represents a ₦20 decrease in the pump price and has already taken effect in several filling stations operated by the company across the Federal Capital Territory.
Some of the locations where the new price has been implemented include Wuse Zone 6, Wuse Zone 4, the Keffi–Abuja Road corridor, and the Kubwa Expressway.
However, despite the downward review, petrol from the company remains costlier than fuel sold at MRS stations supported by Dangote Refinery, which currently dispenses fuel at ₦739 per litre nationwide.
The lower MRS price is linked to recent reductions resulting from Dangote Refinery’s decreased gantry price.
This latest adjustment follows earlier reductions made recently.
On December 19, 2025, the company reduced the price of petrol by ₦80 to ₦835 per litre.
These price movements reflect an ongoing competition within Nigeria’s downstream oil sector, driven largely by shifts in gantry prices from major fuel suppliers.
