Ahead of the 2027 general election, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has warned that joining the All Progressives Congress (APC) or openly professing loyalty to President Bola Tinubu does not automatically guarantee a second-term ticket.
The former Rivers state governor issued the warning while addressing supporters during a political engagement in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers state as part of his ongoing consultations across the state.
The minister, who was received by the Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, Chidi Lloyd, alongside traditional ruler Sergeant Awuse and other party leaders, used the occasion to reinforce his long-held position on political loyalty and agreements.
Addressing the crowd, Wike said
‘’The issue is not wether you are supporting Tinubu. That one, we have taken tops long time ago so Tinubu issue is not an issue again. Nobody should come and tell me I am for Tinubu, on your mandate we shall stand. Who is not for Tinubu in Rivers state? That cannot give you any ticket oo!”
His statement comes after his successor, Governor Fubara and others defected to the ruling party. Fubara’s defection came weeks after his clash and reconciliation with WIke.
