News Update
THE Senate yesterday confirmed 64 nominees for career and non-career ambassadorial appointments, following the consideration and adoption of a report by its Committee on Foreign Affairs.
The confirmation came after the committee’s chairman, Senator Sani Bello, presented the panel’s findings to the chamber, which were subsequently endorsed by lawmakers.
However, deliberations were briefly punctuated by concerns raised by Senator Sahabi Yau over the absence of any nominee from Zamfara State on the list submitted to the Senate.
The lawmaker urged the chamber to formally draw the attention of the President to what he described as a glaring omission.
In response, the Senate President acknowledged the observation, explaining that the list before the chamber was not exhaustive.

He assured senators that the concern would be communicated to the President, adding that additional ambassadorial nominees were expected and that Zamfara State would be accommodated in subsequent appointments.
