Dangote warns importers over fuel price cut

President of Dangote Refinery, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has vowed to frustrate the importation of fuel into the country.

He said that if importers continue neglecting his product in favor of foreign markets, he would go as far as adding another 4,000 CNG trucks to the 4,000 already supplying products to retailers across the country.

It has been reported that Africa’s richest man, Dangote, said he is doing everything to ensure that his $20 billion investment survives.

Speaking at a press briefing in Lagos on Sunday, the owner of the largest refinery in Africa insisted that a business of that magnitude must not be allowed to fail.

Dangote said that as things stand, the game of cat and mouse between him and major oil marketers in the country would have to continue, as he will not fold his hands and watch while his investment collapses.

He added that his prayer and wish is that fuel importers continue to lose even more money.
The African richest man said he is also losing money, noting that it is not about him making money, but that marketers want imports to continue.

He said, “If they want to import fuel, let them continue to import. It’s okay, we will meet in the market. If 4,000 CNG trucks are not enough, we will buy another 4,000 trucks. It’s a logistics business.”
