Oyedepo: I earned N300 monthly as founder of the ministry

News Update

Founder and Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide (Winners’ Chapel), Bishop David Oyedepo, has revealed that his salary as head of the ministry was once as low as N300 per month, underscoring his long-held belief in divine provision.

Oyedepo made the disclosure on Thursday during the ongoing Shiloh annual gathering, where he addressed thousands of worshippers on the principles of faith, obedience and trust in God.

The cleric, while recounting his early years in full-time ministry, said he relied solely on God for sustenance, describing those years as a season of absolute dependence on divine supply.

He said, “Jesus, who pays me now that I’m going into full-time ministry? And light came.”

Referencing Luke 10, Oyedepo explained that Jesus sent out 70 disciples without material support, assuring them that “The laborer is worthy of his hire. Just stay on duty. I am responsible.”

Drawing comparisons, he noted: “No soldier gets enlisted and goes to his village asking for money to buy kits, gun, or uniform.

The one that enlists you is absolutely responsible. No one goes to warfare at his own charge.”

Bishop Oyedepo said he never questioned how he would survive financially, even though his earnings were minimal at the time.

“My salary in the church as resident and founder was 300 naira a month.

“I never lobbied around anyone’s resources. I never sent any team member to beg from anyone. Forty-one years running, we’ve depended solely on God,” he said.

He admonished Christians to anchor their hopes on God, insisting that revelation, conviction and obedience remain catalysts for both spiritual and material advancement.
