ACCORD Na’tl Chairman, Maxwell Mgbudem Not Suspended – Party

News Update

ACCORD has dismissed reports alleging that its National Chairman, Maxwell Mgbudem, has been suspended, describing the claims as false, misleading, and the work of political actors attempting to destabilise the party.

According to Hon. Oke Rotimi Michael, Spokesperson of the Forum of State Chairmen of Accord (South West) and Ogun State Chairman, the rumour is the handiwork of individuals aligned with “rejected” political groups who are desperate to create confusion and misrepresent the party’s internal affairs.

He explained that the party’s National Executive Committee held its meeting on December 3, 2025, during which members unanimously passed a vote of confidence on both the National Chairman and the National Working Committee.

He said there was no discussion, consideration, or implementation of any disciplinary action against Mgbudem, contrary to reports circulating on social media.

He stressed that Accord remains one of Nigeria’s most stable, disciplined and crisis-free political parties, guided strictly by its constitution and democratic values, and would not be shaken by what he described as baseless political propaganda.

Hon. Oke also reacted to messages being circulated by former Accord presidential candidate, Prof. Chris Inumolen, noting that Inumolen is no longer a member of the party and lacks the authority to issue statements on its behalf.

He said the former candidate was expelled following repeated acts of anti-party behaviour, including attempts to forcibly assume leadership positions, interfere with party structures, cause confusion within the organisation, and violate established procedures.

He added that any communication emanating from Inumolen or his associates does not represent Accord and should be completely disregarded.

In Osun State, the Chairman of the Accord Party, Pastor Victor Akande, also refuted claims questioning the membership status and candidacy of Governor Ademola Adeleke.

He confirmed that the governor officially joined Accord on November 6, 2025, was publicly received by the party on December 9, 2025, and emerged as the valid winner of the governorship primary conducted on December 10, 2025.

He emphasised that the primary was held under strict NEC guidelines and monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, stating that those spreading contrary information were attempting to mislead the public.

He challenged rival political parties to focus on what they have achieved rather than relying on falsehoods and social media propaganda, saying elections are not won online and that Accord remains firmly rooted in Osun State.

Accord leadership reiterated that the party is united, stable, and free from internal crises, factions, or external manipulation. They maintained that the party remains guided by its constitution and national laws, with internal democracy and unity serving as its strongest foundation.

Hon. Oke appealed to members, supporters, and the general public to rely solely on official party channels for information and to ignore the activities of what he referred to as disgruntled individuals seeking political relevance.
