A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has sentenced the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu to life imprisonment over terrorism.

The trial judge, Justice James Omotosho made the sentence on Thursday while delivering judgment on the terrorism charge preferred against him by the federal government.

The Court found Kanu guilty of terrorism and incitement of some people against the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“The court here by holds that the prosecution has established count one beyond reasonable doubt and the defendant is hereby convicted for count one.”

He was also found guilty of count count two, three, four, five, six and seven which bordered on membetship of a prescribed organization, incitement and instigation.

The court also classified Kanu as international terrorist, while holding that the act.

Reading the sentencing, Justice Omotoso said, “this convict has not shown remorse at any point. He remained arrogant, cocky and unrepentant of his action against the people of southeast. The court is hereby showing mercy to the convict.

“With regard to count one, three, four and six, he is hereby sentenced to life imprisonment,” the judge ruled.

He also sentenced Kanu to five years on count seven and 20 years on count five. All sentencing aew to run concurrently.

Earlier, Kanu was ordered out of the court by Justice Omotoso after he became unruly during the court process.
