Heartbreaking as Popular Nigerian singer, Molo drops dead

Renowned traditional musician John Zuya, popularly known as John Mai Molo, has died after allegedly eating poisoned food in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

Zuya, who recently returned from Lagos on October 16, 2025, after performing at several cultural events, reportedly began feeling unwell and collapsed shortly after eating the suspected meal.

He was taken to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in Bauchi, where he was confirmed dead.

A fellow musician and close associate, Emma Wakili, confirmed his death in a Facebook post, stating that Zuya passed away at about 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025.

His body has been deposited in the hospital’s mortuary for autopsy as investigations continue into the cause of death.
