Gospel filmmaker and drama minister, Evangelist Kolade Segun-Okeowo, popularly known as K.S.O., has shared an inspiring story about the humble beginnings of his marriage, revealing that he and his wife had to borrow a wedding gown for their wedding nearly 30 years ago.

It was gathered that in a mind-blowing post on his social media page on Sunday, KSO recounted how financial limitations did not stop him and his fiancée from proceeding with their marriage in January 1996, despite not being able to afford many wedding essentials.

“We got married in January 1996. My fiancée and I couldn’t afford to pay for the wedding gown, so we borrowed one,” he wrote.

According to him, the cost of a modest wedding gown at the time was about ₦25,000, but they could only afford a rented gown of ₦3,000, which included transportation and dry-cleaning costs.

He further revealed that his wedding suit, which cost ₦7,000, was donated by his pastor and a friend.

Reflecting on the journey since then, KSO noted that by January 20, 2026, the marriage will clock 30 years, marked by numerous physical and spiritual fruits to the glory of God.

“What you wear on your wedding day does not determine the success of your wedding, so don’t stress yourself to wear what is in vogue. Wear what you can afford,” he admonished.

KSO added that even those who attended their wedding never knew the gown was borrowed, emphasizing that external appearance means little compared to the strength and longevity of the marriage itself.

“If I didn’t tell you now, will you know? Even my friends and family who witnessed the wedding never knew we borrowed the gown. Some of them reading this now will gasp, ‘You don’t mean it… that gown was beautiful!’ Na borrow we borrow am!” he humorously remarked.

He concluded his message with a timeless piece of marital wisdom:

“Beloved, as you prepare to get married, remember, the wedding is just for one day, the marriage is forever. Focus more on what will last beyond one day.”
