INEC clears air on recruitment

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued a warning about fake recruitment advertisements circulating on social media, claiming the commission is hiring for various positions. These ads often direct applicants to a fake portal, https://www.inecrecruitment.com, which is not affiliated with INEC.

No Current Recruitment: INEC clarifies that it is not currently recruiting for any positions, contrary to the claims made in the fake advertisements.
Fake Portals: INEC does not use portals like (link unavailable) for recruitment purposes. Legitimate recruitment processes are conducted through the official INEC website or authorized platforms.

Recent Recruitment Exercise: However, INEC did open its portal for the recruitment of ad-hoc staff for the Anambra State governorship election, which will hold on November 8, 2025. The recruitment portal was open from September 15 to October 5, 2025.

The recruitment exercise included positions such as Supervisory Presiding Officers, Presiding Officers, Assistant Presiding Officers, Registration Area Center Managers, and Registration Area Technical Support staff.

Eligibility Criteria: Applicants were required to meet specific eligibility criteria, including residency requirements and restrictions on political affiliations

Verify Official Channels: Always verify information through official INEC channels, such as their website or social media handles.

Be Cautious of Scams: Be aware of potential scams and do not provide personal or financial information to unverified sources.

Report Suspicious Activity: Report any suspicious activity or fake advertisements to the relevant authorities .
