Fire guts residential building in Ibadan — Report

A private residential building in Ibadan has been ravaged by an early morning fire.

According to report, the incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday at a building located in Akinsoji Zone, Ogbere Moradeyo, Oremeji Area, Ibadan.

Six rooms within the residential building were reportedly affected by the fire, however, no life was lost in the incident.

Chairman of Oyo State Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande when contacted confirmed the development in a statement.

He said men of the agency were immediately mobilised to the scene immediately they were contacted.

He said, “Immediately the address was taken, Firemen led by CFS Adesina Olusoji promptly deployed to the place . On getting to the scene of the fire incident, it was a private residential building of six (6) rooms engulfed by fire and our officers swung into action and restricted the fire from spreading to other nearby buildings.

“No casualty was recorded and the cause of the fire was traced to be indiscriminate dropping of cigarette stub by one of the occupants, ignited to nearby combustibles and set the building on fire.

“The building was severely affected by fire and properties worth millions of naira were saved by the officers of the agency”.
