THE Ilaje Youths Congress (IYC), haas expressed deep concern over the significant retrogression in Ilaje Land area of Ondo State.
The Youths group in a statement signed by the President, Ilaje Youths Congress (IYC), Comrade Aiyenuro Shadrack Gbenga, and the Secretary, Comrade Peter Esrom Ayo, on Monday September 15th, 2025.
“Despite our rich cultural heritage and vast natural resources in Ilaje nation, our people suffer from inadequate healthcare, infrastructure decay, and environmental degradation.
“Our Demands: Upgrade Igbokoda General Hospital to modern standards with state-of-the-art equipment and expanded emergency services, Build modern health centers in major Ilaje communities and Implement measures to safeguard Ayetoro and other coastal communities from sea surges.
“Reasons for Our Demands: Poor healthcare facilities and services, Environmental degradation, coastal erosion, and Lack of investment in infrastructure and social services.
“Consequences of Inaction: Continued suffering and loss of lives, Economic decline and hindered development, more also Social unrest and instability.
“We call on the State Governor, Dr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Hon. Donald K. Ojogo (MHR), Hon. Abayomi B. Akinruntan(MHA), Hon. Princess Wunmi Fayemi-Obayelu, Commissioner representing Ilaje in NDDC, Hon. Otito T. Atikase, OSOPADEC, NDDC, CHEVRON, and other stakeholders to collaborate and proffer solutions for a better Ilaje communities, statement reads.
