JUST IN: Troops repel bandits attack in Katsina community

Troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA, working alongside the Police and local vigilante groups, have repelled a bandits’ attack in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Counter insurgency expert Zagazola Makama revealed that the incident occurred around 9:50 p.m. on Thursday when armed bandits invaded Yar Makera Quarters.

Security operatives and community watch groups quickly mobilised to the scene and engaged the attackers in a gun battle, forcing them to flee.

“The troops, supported by Police operatives and vigilantes, swiftly mobilised to the scene and engaged the attackers in a gun duel, forcing them to retreat.

During the encounter, one resident, Aliyu Hassan, 70, of Yar Makera Quarters, was fatally shot, while another, Mustapha Ado, 35, sustained serious injuries and is receiving treatment,” a source quoted by Makama revealed.

Troops are now combing the surrounding areas to track down the fleeing bandits.
