Ayodeji Akesinro, the abducted staff of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owo, Ondo state, has regained his freedom.

Akesinro was abducted on Thursday evening at his residence in Upenme, Owo LGA of Ondo state.

VAM understands that the health worker was released on Friday night.

In a statement on Saturday, the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN) in Ondo announced Akesinro’s release.

“We are pleased to announce that Pastor Ayodeji Akesinro, a staff member of the Federal Medical Center (FMC) Owo who was abducted in Owo, has been safely released,” the statement reads.

“AMLSN Ondo State Branch expressed gratitude to God Almighty and appreciation to the security agencies, government authorities, colleagues, friends, and well-wishers whose prayers, efforts, and support led to Akesinro’s safe release.”

POLICE IN ACTION

In a related development, the Ondo police command announced the arrest of 100 suspects across the 18 LGAs of the state for alleged kidnapping, armed robbery, and other criminal activities.

Speaking with journalists on the achievements of the command in August, Adebowale Lawal, Ondo police commissioner, narrated how operatives arrested some suspects, including an army supplier, in connection to the murder of one Nwike Sabbat.

“Recovered exhibits include two cut-to-size barrel guns, one live cartridge, and one expended cartridge,” the police commissioner said.

“Further investigation exposed their arms supplier, Chief Kogbona, 87, from whom ten live cartridges were recovered. This development highlights the command’s resolve to not only arrest perpetrators but also dismantle their supply chain.”
