State Governor Sacks All Commissioners

News Update

Governor Hyacinth Alia has sacked all the commissioners in his cabinet, dissolving the Benue State executive council after two years of service.

The decision was taken at the end of the 12th executive council meeting held on Wednesday.

The governor’s chief press secretary, Tersoo Kula, confirmed the development in an official statement issued on Wednesday.

Following the dissolution, Alia appointed Moses Atagher, a former attorney-general and commissioner for justice in the state, as the new chief of staff.

While thanking the former commissioners for their service, Alia urged those who were not reappointed to remain active in the party and continue playing roles that would move Benue forward.

The move only affects the commissioners, while other government appointees remain in their positions for now.
