President Bola Tinubu has ordered the immediate employment of 200 outstanding National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members into the federal civil service.
This newspaper reports that the offers were announced on Tuesday during the combined President’s NYSC Honours Award Ceremony held in Abuja.
They were recognised for their exceptional contributions during the 2020–2023 service years.
Represented by the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Tinubu also announced a cash reward of ₦250,000 for each of the honorees.
The President also extended the employment gesture to 10 physically challenged ex-corps members who sustained injuries or disabilities in the line of duty. He assured them of the government’s continued support and appreciation for their sacrifice.
Commending the award recipients, Tinubu praised their patriotism, discipline, teamwork, and commitment to national development, describing them as worthy ambassadors of the NYSC scheme.
“I have directed the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation and the Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission to commence without delay the documentation and engagement of the 200 awardees into the federal workforce,” the President stated.
He further announced that, in addition to the employment and monetary reward, each honoree—including those with disabilities—would be awarded a full scholarship to pursue postgraduate studies in any Nigerian university.
“In appreciation of their service to the nation, all awardees will receive N250,000 each, and a scholarship for postgraduate studies up to the master’s degree level in any university of their choice within the country,” he added.
