Residents stranded as flood washes away bridge in Oyo — Report

Many residents of Igbope, Kishi and other communities in Oyo State are currently stranded as a result of collapse of the bridge that link the two communities.

 

According to report, the collapsed bridge, is the major bridge that connects Igbope in Oorelope Local Government Area and Kishi in Irepo Local Government Area in Oke Ogun geopolitical zone of the state.

 

This platform on Wednesday learnt that the bridge collapsed as a result of a flood that washed it away.

 

It was learnt that there was heavy rainfall between Monday night and Tuesday morning, which resulted in a flood that washed away the bridge.

Findings revealed that thousands of people in the affected communities are currently stranded as the bridge is the key route for economic, social, and agricultural activities in the region.

 

As of the time of this report on Wednesday, the bridge has remained unfixed and paralysed all social and economic activity in the area.
