In a landmark move that has drawn widespread commendation, the Vice Chairmen of the Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) across Ondo State have expressed their profound appreciation to the Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for courageously presenting the issue of LCDA constitutional recognition to the Constitutional Review Committee in Abuja.
The LCDA Vice Chairmen, in a joint statement, described the Governor’s action as a bold and progressive step towards deepening democratic governance and ensuring accelerated grassroots development in Nigeria. They noted that the constitutional recognition of LCDAs would help strengthen local administration, promote inclusiveness, and enhance service delivery at the community level.
According to the statement, “His Excellency, Governor Aiyedatiwa, has once again demonstrated exceptional leadership and deep commitment to the people at the grassroots. By raising the issue of LCDA recognition during the constitutional review process, he has not only defended the interests of Ondo State but also advanced the cause of decentralization and equity for all Nigerians.”
The Vice Chairmen emphasized that LCDAs serve as a vital link between the government and the people, especially in rural areas. They maintained that Governor Aiyedatiwa’s timely intervention could pave the way for the long-awaited legal backing that would empower LCDAs to function fully and effectively across the country.
They further assured the Governor of their unflinching support and pledged to continue working in synergy with his administration to drive meaningful development at the grassroots.
This move is historic. It shows that we have a Governor who listens to the people, understands their challenges, and is willing to champion their interests even at the highest levels of governance. We are proud to be part of this administration and grateful for a leader who is focused on the future.
