CONYSSA Hosts Southwest Youth Multi-Stakeholders’ Summit To Tackle Social Vices

…Internet fraud, corruption, other social vices should stop in South West – Ambassador Ade Mario

THE Coalition of Nigerian Youths on Security & Safety Affairs (CONYSSA) has hosted the Southwest Youth Multi-Stakeholders’ summit to stand united against the rising wave of social vices threatening national development in South West and Nigeria.

The event which was held on Thursday at Adolak Event centre Osogbo, Osun state capital was organised in collaboration with Federal Ministry of Youth Development, and various security agencies, including the
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), National Orientation Agency (NOA), and office of the Chief of Defence Staff.

The summit witnessed interactive sessions, speakers and dignitaries who shared experience and insights on security matters and how to curb social vices in the society.

Ambassador Ade Mario Emmanuel, stated that the event is meant to bring together key security stakeholders, youth organizations and government to tackle pressing security issues and end social vices in the South West.

He added that the summit is aimed at integrating youths in the fighting against crime, violent extremism, drug abuse and other social vices across the States in South West.

“Today’s event addressed pressing issues by engaging young minds and stakeholders in meaningful dialogue and action.

“South West zone in the past was know for peace, and free of social vices, but now the story has changed, rituals, Cultism, cybercrime, drug abuse and other social vices is on the increase, there is need to mainstream youths into the system to curb.

He called on Nigerian government for deployment of technology to fight the social vices.

“I implore Nigerian government to deploy money to inquire technology equipments to curb the vices in the states.”

“The young people are ready to make ourselves sacrificial lamp to join the security agencies to fight and confront the social vices because there is a need to bring an end to it, for peace and enabling environment even now and 10 years to come”

He further charged Religious leaders to help in preaching hardwork, dignity and labour to the people.

“Religious leaders should stop prosperity preaching, over night riches message should stop, Men of God should tell their members to pursue legitimate career, learn skills to make a living”

“With the collective efforts of all participants, this summit forged a path towards a safer, more secure Southwest zone.”

While speaking with Journalists, the National President of the National Youth Council Of Nigeria (NYCN), Ambassador Solomon Adodo emphasized that the time has come for Nigerian youth to move from complaints to contribution, from potential to productivity.

“The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed that his administration is ready to partner with the youth of the nation. As the era of waiting is over. We must rise and deliver,” he declared.

Adodo affirmed that the governors of the South West have also demonstrated willingness to engage with forward-thinking youth leaders.

“I’ve interfaced with governors across this region. They are open to supporting youth who are ready to work. The Governor of Osun State, ably represented at this summit, affirmed that support without hesitation.”

He also announced that the National Youth Council of Nigeria(NYCN) has been reorganized, reconstituted, and re-energized to reflect the new spirit of youth leadership and accountability.

“A new order has begun. But the first reform starts with us. We’ve started that reform, and we will carry it across the nation.”

He concluded; “To every youth in the South West and across Nigeria: shun crime, shun shortcuts, shun destruction. Rise with your gifts, talents, and vision. Let’s build the Nigeria we deserve.”

The summit gathered Security agencies youth representatives, organization and Student participants from Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, and Ekiti States.
