Osun Amotekun Debunks Political Harassment Claims, Reaffirms Neutrality in Security Operations Following APM Allegations

News Update

The attention of the Osun State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun Corps, has been drawn to a press release issued by the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), alleging acts of brutality, harassment, and politically motivated arrests purportedly carried out by operatives of the Corps under the leadership of our Commander, Chief (Dr.) Hon. Adekunle Isaac Omoyele.

We categorically reject these claims as false, baseless, and politically motivated. The Amotekun Corps is a non-partisan, community-based security outfit established by law to protect lives and property across Osun State in collaboration with other security agencies. Our operations are guided strictly by the law, professionalism, and the collective interest of the people of Osun State without fear or favour.

The attempt by APM to politicize security operations and malign the hard-earned integrity of Chief Omoyele is not only mischievous but a disservice to the citizens who benefit daily from Amotekun’s dedication to community safety.

Since assuming leadership, Commander Omoyele has brought discipline, transparency, and operational efficiency to the Corps, winning the confidence of traditional rulers, community leaders, and citizens across party lines.

The Amotekun Corps has never and will never engage in arbitrary or politically motivated arrests. Every intervention by our operatives is driven by credible intelligence and community reports of criminal activities. Individuals apprehended are handed over to the appropriate authorities in accordance with due process.

We note with concern the recycled allegations regarding Commander Omoyele’s past. It is worth stating that no competent court of law has found him guilty of any wrongdoing, and his appointment followed rigorous background checks and a proven track record of service. His detractors, including those now resurfacing with politically coloured allegations, have failed to present any fresh or credible evidence.

We urge members of the public to disregard the sensational claims made by APM, which appear to be driven more by electoral desperation than genuine concern for justice or the rule of law. Chief (Dr.) Hon. Adekunle Isaac Omoyele remains committed to leading a disciplined and apolitical Amotekun Corps that protects all residents of Osun State regardless of political affiliation.

We remain open to scrutiny, oversight, and constructive engagement. However, we will not allow politically motivated propaganda to derail the essential work we do in securing our communities.

Yusuf Idowu Abass
