FEDERATION OF IFEDORE STUDENTS (FILGSU) DISSATISFIED OVER HON. BARR. TOPE AKOMOLAFE’S PERFORMANCE

There are moments when silence becomes a betrayal—not just of conscience, but of generations yet unborn. There are times when speaking up is no longer a political act, but a moral obligation. FEDERATION of Ifedore students Union (FILGSU) as the students body that embodies the welfare of the students of ifedore LGA are sincerely not satisfied with your achievement as the legislator representing IFEDORE constituency at the state assembly.

We live in a time where the truth is often traded for convenience, where many either from fear or favour—choose the shallow comfort of sycophancy over the hard labour of honesty. But we, cannot remain silent. Not because we seek applause, not because we harbour political ambition—far from it. We write because the burden of conscience has become too heavy to carry in silence.

We are not writing as a political group seeking a podium, nor as a rival coveting your seat. We are not moved by bitterness. We are writing as a body to express our dissatisfaction in your leadership as the voice of the constituency at the State House of assembly. You have failed to attend to the welfare of the students in the constituency. There’s a total disconnection between you and the constituents. You are unresponsive to your constituents inquiries and concerns.

The union is also aware of your act of petitioning and arresting everyone that request for accountability and challenges your low performance. Openness and transparency helps to build public trust and also makes it easier to identify poor performance.

When you took office in 2023, you carried the weight of the people’s hopes. Many believed that change had finally arrived. They believed, perhaps naively, that a new season of purposeful leadership was at hand. But two years later, what we are witnessing in ifedore is not growth or transformation. It is regression.

We are writing this letter because we can no longer pretend that all is well. We can no longer be silent, because silence would mean complicity—and we are not complicit. This is not an act of disrespect. It is a reminder. A reminder of the oath you took. A reminder of the trust the people placed in you. A reminder of the vision you once claimed to champion.

The people are watching. The future is watching. And history will judge who stood up and who chose silence.

We have chosen not to remain silent.
