News Update
THE founder of Sotitobire Praising Chapel, Prophet Babatunde Samuel, has generated comments and reactions after directing members of his church to come to service on Sunday with a sum of N1,100 for what he described as a “divinely instructed special prayer session.”
In a viral video seen our correspondent, making rounds on social media, the cleric said the instruction came directly from God and was meant for those “who have faith and are seeking divine intervention.”
According to the Prophet, the money is not intended for the church, dismissing any suggestion of financial motivation. “I don’t want such peanut in my church,” he said in the video.
This latest directive comes just weeks after the Prophet made headlines for ordering church members to bring Okro to a Sunday service in May.
That instruction led to hundreds of congregants thronging the church auditorium with nylons of the vegetable for another special prayer event.
The unusual nature of these prophetic demands has continued to draw mixed reactions across social media and religious circles, with many questioning the theological basis for such practices.
Despite the controversy, the church maintains a strong following in Akure and beyond, with members often turning out in large numbers in response to the Prophet’s directives.

Meanwhile, efforts to hear from the church’s leadership proved abortive as at press time.
