Twelve children from different villages have been rescued in Abia State from a couple, Sunday Emebo and Blessing Emebo by the Abia State Police Command.
This was made known by DSP Maureen Chinaka, the Spokesperson of Abia State Police Command, who explained that the couple were apprehended on 19/05/2025 at an alleged unregistered illegal motherless babies home in their apartment located at Ikot Ekpene road, Aba.
She said that the arrest of the couple and the rescue of the twelve kids were made possible through credible intelligence gathered by the Police Command, pointing out that the ages of the rescued children ranged from six to fourteen months.
DSP Chinaka also disclosed that the arrested couple, Sunday Emebo and his wife Blessing Emebo are presently being interrogated at State Criminal Investigation Department, CID, and would soon be arraigned in court after investigations.
She further said that the rescued children have been safely handed over to the Abia State Ministry of Women Affairs.
While saying that Abia State Police Command was committed to ensuring the reduction of crime and criminality in the State, the Command advised the public to stay security-conscious and ensure that no child should be with left with unfamiliar persons.
