Outgoing 9 Ward Chairmen saga; Ondo West APC leaders to petition Ganduje over Adetimehin-led anti-party activities

In a partisan democratic settings as ours, the beauty of political participation and party arrangement is such that all hands must be on deck for the actualization of common goals and objectives in line with the provision of the party constitution.

As a matter of fact, no organ of the party or whichever individual must be seen to wield so much undue influence on constituted authority or structure to such extent that puts the party in a situation of chaos, disarray, and set it along the precipice.

In the case of the ill-motivated and sordid endorsement by a set of out-going ward chairmen who find it difficult to stomach the success of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa at the polls despite their obvious antagonism speaks to the unfortunate posturing and the use of party structure in such a way that betrays the letter and intent of the party’s constitution, rules, and conventions.

It is an open secret that a particular relegated political leader in Ondo West Local Government who have since lost credibility and influence beyond redemption but clinging desperately at the influence of the state party chairman to unduly undermine the party and cause chaos.

In clear contravention of the provisions of the party constitution which says:

Article 21 (vi) – Prohibits any member from engaging in dishonest practices or conducting themselves in a manner likely to bring the party into disrepute, hatred, or contempt, or to engage in anti-party activities.

2. Article 9 (i) – Obligates all party members to remain loyal and to refrain from acts capable of bringing the party into disrepute or causing division.

It is only natural that all party officials maintain strict neutrality, avoid using their positions to influence the emergence of candidates, and uphold the principles of fairness and internal democracy.

It has become an eyesore and an aberration that doesn’t take any semblance with common-sense or any known principle of sportsmanship, decorum, and adherence to organizational rules and objective.

On this note, we call on the State party chairman to rein-in on any ill-motivated political leader trying to soil his name and put his office to disrepute by occasioning or sponsoring an endorsement that clearly runs against the letters and spirit of the party’s constitution.

It only makes absolute sense that all stakeholders play by the rules and ensure that the party remains an indivisible entity working along clearly stated objectives.
