Shock as Tinubu fires letter to Senate

President Bola Tinubu has written to the Senate, requesting the confirmation of 19 individuals as Chairman, Managing Director/CEO, and members of the Board of the North-Central Development Commission (NCDC).

 

The request was conveyed in a letter read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during Thursday’s plenary session.

 

According to the President’s letter, the nominations are in line with the provisions of Part I, Section 2(2)(a) of the North-Central Development Commission (Establishment) Act, 2024. Tinubu noted that the appointments require confirmation by the Senate in consultation with the House of Representatives.

 

The nominees are Cosmas Akyhir as Chairman from Benue State and Tsenyil Yiltsen as Managing Director from Plateau State. Others include Dauda Kigbu from Nasarawa, Zakari Jikantoro from Niger, Sulaiman Ali from Kogi, Rev. Bunmi Olusona from Kwara, Dr Umar Mantu from Plateau, and Atotse Abraham from Benue. Solomon Adodo is nominated from the FCT, while Abdulkadir Usman and Habu Mamman represent the North-West and North-East respectively. Also nominated are Dr Atinuke Owolabi from the South-West, Racheal Nse from the South-South, and Boniface Izziogu from the South-East.

 

James Uloko is proposed as Executive Director from Benue, Atika Ajanah as Executive Director, Projects from Kogi, Hajiya Bilgis Sanni as Executive Director from Kwara, Hajiya Aishatu Ibrahim as Executive Director from Nasarawa, and Muhammad Bashar as Executive Director from Niger.

 

President Tinubu expressed hope that the request would receive the usual expeditious consideration of the Senate, and extended his highest regards to the Senate President.
