Gunmen have killed the District Head of Odugbeho in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State, Chief Adejo Anthony Denison, and an All Progressives Congress (APC) youth leader from Apa LGA, Comrade Jerry Jeremiah.
The victims were attacked while working on their farms along the Otukpo-Otobi-Akpa Road in Otukpo LGA.
Eyewitnesses said the attack occurred on Wednesday, just a day after the killing of an APC chieftain and six others in separate incidents across Gwer East and Makurdi LGAs.
They explained that although the farmland is situated in Otukpo LGA, it is commonly leased by residents from neighbouring areas, including Agatu, for agricultural activities.

Chairman of Agatu LGA, Mavis James Ejeh, confirmed the killing of Chief Adejo in a phone conversation with journalists on Thursday. He described the traditional ruler as a respected peacebuilder and community leader.
“Chief Tony Adejo was killed while working on his farm in Otobi by armed men. Despite this tragic incident, Odugbeho remains calm. We urge our people not to take the law into their own hands,” Ejeh said.
He called on Agatu indigenes to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies to avert further attacks, particularly when farming outside the LGA.
Former Vice Chairman of Agatu LGA, John Ikwulono, and ex-government official, Olikita Ekani expressed deep sorrow over the incident, describing the victims as impactful and dedicated leaders.
As of press time, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Benue State Command, CSP Catherine Anene, stated that she had not yet received an official report on the incident.
