IGP Summons Police Officers Filmed Collecting Cash From Chinese Nationals

Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has summoned the Provost of 1 Police Mobile Force (MOPOL) Kaduna, DSP Aliyu Adejembi, and his team after they were captured on video receiving cash handouts from Chinese nationals.

The officers were reportedly on special duty with the Chinese individuals in Lagos when the incident occurred.

A video seen by this Online Newspaper shows the police officers queuing visibly to collect money from the foreigners, sparking public outrage and raising concerns over misconduct within the police force.

A police wireless message dated April 15, 2025, confirmed the IG’s directive, stating that the officers must appear for questioning at the Force Headquarters on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, by 9:00 am.
