A blood-thirsty kidnap gang responsible for a trail of murder, abductions, and millions in ransom has met a brutal end after a fierce shootout with the Delta State Police Command’s Special Assignment team.
According to the Command’s spokesman, SP Bright Edafe, the gang, led by a man who shockingly ran a “legit business” in Onitsha by day and operated as a kidnapping kingpin by night, was behind several heinous crimes, including the cold-blooded murder of Miss Esther Ojoh, a realtor who was kidnapped and killed just a day later.
In a chilling spree of violence, the same gang also murdered a man and abducted his wife and two children, leaving an entire family traumatised.
They weren’t done. The criminals also kidnapped a medical doctor, forcing the family to pay a whopping ₦15 million ransom to secure his release.
But their reign of terror came to a dramatic end when operatives from the CP’s elite squad tracked them down.
In a fierce exchange of gunfire, four members of the gang were gunned down. Police recovered three AK-47 rifles from the scene.
“They are no more,” Edafe declared via his official handle. “May the souls of those they murdered rest in peace… but for their own, na God go decide that one.”
Social media has erupted with reactions to the bust, especially the shocking revelation that the gang leader masqueraded as a legitimate businessman.
Many called for further probes into similar fronts used by violent criminals.
The police have vowed to continue hunting down remaining members and dismantle every cell of this deadly network.
