Ekiti Woman Accuses Police Officer Of Stabbing Her Father

News Update

A woman has turned to social media, seeking justice after a police officer allegedly stabbed her father in the Ise-Ekiti area of Ekiti State.

In a video that has since gone viral, the woman claims that the officer, said to be the personal orderly of a local chairman, attacked her father following a dispute between her younger brother and a female classmate.

According to the woman, the girl informed her boyfriend about the argument, which led to two police officers arriving at their home, stating that they were there to make an arrest.

In one video filmed at the hospital where her father was being treated, the woman explains, “I’m in Ise right now, and this is my dad lying helpless in the hospital. My younger brother had a disagreement with a classmate, and the girl got upset. She called her boyfriend to confront my brother. When they arrived, my brother wasn’t home, so they questioned his elder brother instead, demanding he come to the police station. Only one officer initially entered the house. The officer started questioning my brother, who asked why he was being arrested. The officer then began to hit him. My brother called for my father, who came to intervene. That’s when another officer suddenly pulled out a knife and stabbed my dad in the stomach. My dad tried to block the blade with his hand, but the knife still cut him.”

The woman expressed her frustration that, despite the gravity of the incident, the officer responsible has not been arrested, citing delays in the police’s procedures.

“The officer who stabbed my dad is still walking free. Authorities say there’s a process, but this officer should not be allowed to remain free. I believe this isn’t the first time he has done something like this,” she said.

She went on to criticize the police’s inaction, saying, “If I had done this, I’d be in jail by now. But this officer is still on duty, still roaming free. This is not how the system should work. It’s shameful for the police to behave like this. My father almost lost his life for no reason.”

In another video filmed at the police station, she vowed to pursue justice, stating, “If nothing happens, I’ll make sure your face is everywhere on the internet. You’ll be dismissed, you murderer.”

She appealed to higher authorities for intervention. “Please, Mr. President, Commissioner of Police, we need your help. This cannot go unpunished. Please, do something. Nigeria is failing us, and we need justice.”

The incident, which took place yesterday, is under investigation, and the woman continues to demand accountability.
