Tragedy as Eko Electric worker electrocuted during reconnection

A 42-year-old staff member of an electricity distribution company has been electrocuted while working in the Ebute Metta area of Lagos State.

The incident was said to have occurred on Monday at about 8:15 pm.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement on Thursday, confirmed that the victim was reconnecting and clearing faulty electrical wires at Borno Way by Ayodele Junction when the tragic accident happened.

Hundeyin stated that the victim was rescued and rushed to the hospital for treatment but was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.

According to him, a team of detectives visited the scene, and the hospital was also visited, where the corpse was inspected, photographed, and deposited at the hospital’s morgue for autopsy.

Hundeyin added that an investigation into the incident was ongoing.
